Some objects earn their place in a room. This is one of them.
Drawn from the raw visual language of Abstract Expressionism, this shallow decorative vessel is both a fine art ceramic object and a defining centerpiece for considered interiors. Bold gestural brushwork, fired into the surface, carries the immediacy of abstract mark-making that no print or reproduction can replicate.
At sixteen inches in diameter, this is not a subtle piece. It is a presence — the kind of object that anchors a room and invites a second look. The form itself is sculptural: the rim moves with a gentle, intentional warp that echoes the energy of the painted surface, as though the making of the object and the painting of it were a single continuous gesture. Set on a substantial coffee table or a dining table cleared for display, it holds its own against architecture.
On craft: Each piece is hand-formed and hand-glazed in the studio using non-toxic materials, then fired to reveal surface textures and tonal depth that only the kiln can produce. No two are identical. The slight asymmetry, the variation in glaze movement, the warp in the rim, the marks left by the maker — these are not imperfections. They are the work.
On the glaze: Applied by hand in layered washes and broad strokes, the black-and-white surface is luminous under changing light — matte in shadow, alive in direct sun. The palette is architectural. It belongs anywhere serious design lives.
